The problem this solves
Every development inherits a noise environment, and every plant exports one. An environmental noise assessment answers the two questions that follow: what noise the site will impose on your building, and what noise your project will impose on its neighbors and its permit. Those answers set facade specifications, plant selection, and site layout. Answered late, they reopen all three.

Near-field and far-field environmental noise surveys characterizing site conditions across daytime and nighttime periods. Traffic noise propagation studies and facade exposure analysis for LAeq day and night. Boundary noise compliance assessments for industrial facilities and power plants. Noise impact studies for helipads, aviation facilities, and test cells. Noise evaluations for wastewater treatment and utility facilities. Every engagement ends in a formal report referencing the applicable limits, written for submission to authorities, lenders, and design teams.
Method and standards
Surveys use calibrated Class 1 sound level meters with A-weighted, octave-band, and event logging, attended or unattended as the brief requires. Assessments reference the WHO Environmental Noise Guidelines 2018 and applicable national limits, and BS 8233 where residential design criteria apply. Where prediction is needed, survey data feeds directly into our 3D modeling to ISO 9613-2.
We prepare environmental noise assessments for projects in Saudi Arabia in line with the Kingdom's environmental permitting requirements.
How this scope is appointed: directly by the developer or operator, as a sub-consultant to the design team, or as an independent study where an authority or a lender asks for one.

Proof
We assessed community noise impact for the EDL Zahleh power plant, boundary compliance for the Nabatiyeh wastewater treatment plant, and two 19 MW gas turbine units in Yemen against national limits. We studied helipad noise at NDU Medical Center and measured jet engine test cells in Dhahran for BAE Systems and the Royal Saudi Air Force.

What is an environmental noise assessment?
A measurement-based study that documents existing or predicted noise levels at a site or its boundary and compares them against applicable limits or design criteria.
When should it be commissioned?
Before design freezes. Survey results drive facade ratings and plant placement, and retrofitting either is expensive.
What do we receive at the end?
A formal report stating method, instrumentation, measured levels, the applicable limits, and the compliance position, in a format authorities and lenders accept.
