The problem this solves

A noise barrier that turns out undersized, a rooftop chiller compound that fails the boundary limit, a glazing specification one class too low: each is a five-figure or six-figure correction after construction and a model run before it. We use simulation as a decision-making platform, not a presentation graphic: comparing options, sizing mitigations, and reducing uncertainty before procurement.

What we deliver

Outdoor: 3D environmental noise models per ISO 9613-2 for road traffic, industrial plant, and mixed-use sites; day and night contour maps (LAeq, Lden) demonstrating compliance at boundaries and sensitive receptors; rooftop MEP compound modeling with barrier sizing and enclosure optimization; barrier insertion loss comparison before and after mitigation; facade exposure prediction by floor and orientation, from which we derive minimum wall and glazing insulation ratings.

Indoor: reverberation time prediction by octave band from 125 Hz to 4 kHz; sound pressure level distribution mapping for auditoria, ballrooms, classrooms, and public spaces; speech intelligibility prediction (STI and STIPA); treatment optimization testing material placement before construction; room modal analysis for critical listening environments.

Method and standards

Outdoor propagation follows ISO 9613-2. Models are calibrated with our own survey data, and their predictions are verified by measurement at commissioning.

How this scope is appointed: directly, as a sub-consultant to the architect or the MEP engineer, or as an independent review of a model another party has produced.

Questions we are asked

What standard governs outdoor noise modeling?

ISO 9613-2, the attenuation standard our propagation models implement.

Can simulation replace measurement?

No. The model makes decisions cheap; the measurement makes them defensible.

What inputs do you need to build a model?

Architectural drawings, MEP plant selections with sound data where available, and site survey results. Where data is missing, we measure it or state the assumption in the report.
